KISS were among the honorees at last night’s Kennedy Center Honors festivities. U.S. President Donald J. Trump was personally on hand to bestow the honor among the hard rock legends, which celebrates Americans who have made significant cultural impact and contributions to American culture through performing arts. Other artists and individuals receiving the honor last night included actor Sylvester Stallone, disco queen Gloria Gaynor and more.

KISS frontman/guitarist Paul Stanley, bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons and drummer Peter Criss were all presented with the honors. The band’s late guitarist Ace Frehley was also posthumously honored with the award, with his daughter Monique being on hand to accept it. Trump stated of the band:

“The members of the incredible rock band KISS: Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley — who now is resting in peace, and his beautiful daughter is here to accept the award. Thank you very much. Thank you for being here.”

While presenting Simmons with his medallion, Trump could be heard remarking that they had been friends for a very long time.
